The images presented were taken in the 1990's. Taken as prints, there is degradation when going from print to digital images.  Also, where we were traveling sometimes delayed processing for weeks or months and humidity played havoc with the undeveloped film. Still, I wanted to share our experiences through the pictures we took.

Plymouth, England 11/96 -- 5/97

6/21/2023

We loved our digs in Plymouth.  We were in the heart of the city in the historic section known as the Barbican.  We had an easy walk to anything we needed or wanted to do.  The train station was close enough and we took advantage of that to travel locally as well as traveling to London a couple of times.  But the Barbican which surrounded Sutton Harbor Marina was the best.  We couldn't believe our luck and we were so happy we decided to winter here.

The Three Crowns Pub was an easy walk from the boat. Neither Carl nor I had experienced such historic buildings in such numbers. We loved it. And it's still a pub!

This was so new to us. Eating or having a drink outside surrounded by history was a kick. Everyone, except us, accepted this ambiance as common.

A street in the Barbican. It was always fun to explore and go shopping when surrounded by this.

Our area of Sutton Harbor Marina. Bijou is in the center of the picture with the green canvas.

A big demonstration by local fisherman about new laws and regulations, brought boats from many nearby harbors to protest. It was quite a site.

London, England

6/8/2023

January 1997.  We couldn't be in England and not visit London.  Mind you, it would have been a little nicer to go at a time when it was warmer, but we had a blast, and there were fewer tourists, so in that regard, it was better.  We saw all the obvious sights.
Picture
Downtown London, Big Ben. What a sight. Our first taste of being a tourist in a place that we'd seen and heard about all of our lives. Here we were--in person!!

Changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. Interesting.

Lori in London, dressed for winter. I'm standing in front of Buckingham Palace.

Does Carl look cold? We were, but this is the Tower Bridge. How cool!! Being able to see all these sights made it worth doing in the cold.

Tower of London. We were able to get inside and spend a few hours. Interesting exhibits and history.

January 1997. We also took the opportunity to visit Greenwich. Lori is straddling the two hemispheres at the Prime Meridian.
