The images presented were taken in the 1990's. Taken as prints, there is degradation when going from print to digital images.  Also, where we were traveling sometimes delayed processing for weeks or months and humidity played havoc with the undeveloped film. Still, I wanted to share our experiences through the pictures we took.

Cruising England's Southwest Coast

August, September, October 1996.  We spent this time searching for a place to spend the winter.  We started our research in Falmouth including the nearby rivers--the Helford River, the River Fal, and the Truro River.  Swift currents and tides challenged us.  Even going short distances required planning.  We weren't used to these variables!

Helford River is wide with many small inlets.  Much of the water's edge is covered in dense vegetation.  Close by is Trebah Gardens (left), which has beautiful landscaping and a very significant past.  A man approached us because he just felt that we were Americans.  He painted us a picture of how important these gardens were in WWII.  The beach was used as an embarkation point for a regiment of 7,500 of the 29th US Infantry Division for the assault landing on Omaha Beach.  He thanked us!  Blew us away!
