Islands off the coast of Maine

July and August 1994.  The Islands off the coast of Maine were far better than we imagined.  Beautiful, sometimes remote, sometimes busy with summer tourists, but always interesting and beautiful.  We felt the only way to really appreciate them was to do it by boat.  We felt very fortunate.

Regina and Merle Beal from Beals Island, Maine, come from a long established and prominent lobster fishing family. We admired each other's boats and had a couple of wonderful conversations. That's what can happen when anchored out in remote places. Not only were they interesting, they were very nice people.
