The images presented were taken in the 1990's. Taken as prints, there is degradation when going from print to digital images.  Also, where we were traveling sometimes delayed processing for weeks or months and humidity played havoc with the undeveloped film. Still, I wanted to share our experiences through the pictures we took.

Some of the sights around the island. We walked nearly every day and so these sights became normal.
We quickly grew to love our winter home.  We walked every day, following the winding sidewalks that coursed through the island.  Since we were an anomaly, people knew who we were by listening to the local grapevine.  People waved and said hello like they knew us.  It was a wonderful experience.  Three or four couples became good friends during that time. They made sure we knew how the ferries worked and how to get supplies in Haugesund, our nearest market town.  The whole winter was filled with experiences we would never forget.

Everyone has a boat, sometimes more than one. Small to get around the shores of the island, like this one. Or larger boats to hop from one island to the next. Definitely, a water community. Just right for us.

This little mini-ferry took us across a waterway on Espevær to a bigger ferry that crossed to the next island. There we got a bus and another ferry to get us to our market town of Haugesund.

More common sights. The land off in the distance is the next island called Bomlo. That's where our bigger ferry took us to catch the bus and next ferry to Haugesund. Market day was an all-day affair.
