The images presented were taken in the 1990's. Taken as prints, there is degradation when going from print to digital images.  Also, where we were traveling sometimes delayed processing for weeks or months and humidity played havoc with the undeveloped film. Still, I wanted to share our experiences through the pictures we took.

More Panama Canal

Sept., 1991.  The MiraFlores Locks are the first set of three locks in the Canal.  On our first day in the Canal, we only went through two locks.  Between lock two and three there is the Pedro Miguel Boat Club and we planned to stay there for a couple of weeks.  Wonderful colonial building where there were showers, laundry, and communal kitchen, which we used along with others who paused their transit to enjoy the beautiful amenities.

Ships transiting the Canal passed only a couple hundred yards from us.  Great entertainment all day, every day.  Never tired of it.  Really cool!!

Huge lock doors have been doing this job for nearly a century and they are still so quiet!! No sound of metal on metal or gears turning. It was an amazing engineering accomplishment.

When locking up, each lock fills with water to get you to the level of the next lock. Here the lock is full and we're getting ready to depart and head to the next lock. View is looking back toward the direction we've come from.

Bijou tied in our slip at the Pedro Miguel Boat Club. We are only yards away from the large ships that are transiting the Canal. Spent many delightful hours just watching the activity.

Pedro Miguel Boat Club. Great amenities, plus a communal kitchen that allowed us a place to congregate with other cruisers who were docked there. A very special place!!
