The images presented were taken in the 1990's. Taken as prints, there is degradation when going from print to digital images.  Also, where we were traveling sometimes delayed processing for weeks or months and humidity played havoc with the undeveloped film. Still, I wanted to share our experiences through the pictures we took.

On to Belize and a visit from friends

8/3/2021

March, 1992.  Good friends Marion and Keith  decided to brave the wild and join us in Belize.  They were terrific sports and couldn't have asked for better mates to share our tiny boat.  The weather did not cooperate for the first few days and we were stuck in Placentia, doing not much at all, but eventually the sun did come out and it was good after that.

March 1992. Marion and Keith arrived in a small plane that landed in a field. It was the village event--head to the field and watch the plane land.

It rained the first few days of their visit, so we ended up doing domestic things like shopping for groceries and taking a tour up the Monkey River. Marion and Keith booked it and it was a lot of fun. It was four hours and took us up the mangrove swamps.

Lori looks very bored, but the camera caught her at a bad time. She wasn't bored at all. The Monkey River trip was a lot of fun. Saw iguanas, turtles, kingfishers, yellowtail and heard monkeys, but never saw any. No toucans or parrots either.

Once the sun came out we headed out to the islands.  We chose Ranguana.  It's  quiet, no amenities and so no tourists.    Cruising friends, Roger and Sue on Banjo, came in for one night and we had drinks on Bijou.  On their trip over, they caught a fish they didn't want and so gave it to Keith.  Fisherman came in too and Keith traded some gum and caramels for a fish.  We had enough food now for a couple of meals.

This was the first time that Marion and Keith had taken to the "high seas" in a little boat.  They did comment that they frequently looked to us to see if we were nervous.  We weren't, it was a great sail out to the island.  That's it behind Marion.

Sail out to Ranguana. We did have a couple of squals but it made for good sailing.
