The images presented were taken in the 1990's. Taken as prints, there is degradation when going from print to digital images.  Also, where we were traveling sometimes delayed processing for weeks or months and humidity played havoc with the undeveloped film. Still, I wanted to share our experiences through the pictures we took.

Port annapolis in annapolis, md

Our time in Annapolis started in the fall of 1992 and lasted until the spring of 1994.  We set up a pretty comfortable life for ourselves.  We worked, we played and "settled in."  The marina had all the amenities we needed and even with the "laying of the hose" to get water in the winter, we enjoyed our stay.  Good friends Greg and Val on Grimsby were also in Annapolis just in another marina. Since we both ended up buying cars, we were able to get together when time permitted.  Val had gotten a job as well.  Living on a boat is always interesting and being in Annapolis was no different.  The holidays were fun and it was in Annapolis where we first heard of and participated in "First Night," a great News Years tradition.

Us on board Grimsby with Val and Greg. It's Christmas and it was great spending it with friends.
Also living on a boat means dealing with the weather ALL OF THE TIME.  Up to this point, we had had little experience with drastic fluctuations in the tides.  Being in Port Annapolis gave us our first taste of fixed docks with the occasional big tidal change.  Super high tides with fixed docks means the docks disappear at high time, then reappear when the tide drops.  This makes securing a boat a challenge.

Carl walking on water?? Sure looks that way, but it's the tide rising high enough to cover the dock by a few inches.

These super high tides really made a mess of things.

Boats get a little squirrely when the tide is this high. Everyone watches carefully, especially if the wind comes up.
