The images presented were taken in the 1990's. Taken as prints, there is degradation when going from print to digital images. Also, where we were traveling sometimes delayed processing for weeks or months and humidity played havoc with the undeveloped film. Still, I wanted to share our experiences through the pictures we took.
June/July 1991. Us looking smart in our touring, big city clothes June and July 1991. We traveled several times to San Jose, the capital, for a variety of reasons. One of which was enrolling in a month-long immersive Spanish class. Plus, we took a trip inland to the cloud forest. Travelling by bus and train was easy and of course we walked--a lot! San Jose had the feel of an international, metropolitan city and we loved it. We took as many opportunities as we could to travel there. Sometimes for business, others just to be tourists. July 1991. We decided the best way to learn Spanish was to immerse ourselves completely. We enrolled at Instituto Britanica and made arrangements to live with a wonderful lady by the name of Elieth. We was a terrific cook and helped us understand what we were watching on TV. Mind you she spoke no English and we struggled with our Spanish, but it was amazing how much we could communicate. You notice I said communicate, not have a conversation. It was a great experience and although we didn't retain much, we did a little better than we did before we started. Comments are closed.
