The images presented were taken in the 1990's. Taken as prints, there is degradation when going from print to digital images.  Also, where we were traveling sometimes delayed processing for weeks or months and humidity played havoc with the undeveloped film. Still, I wanted to share our experiences through the pictures we took.

PictureLori on Isla Pasavera, south of Puerta Vallarta
January 1990    As we worked out way south from San Blas, we spent time in La Cruz Huanacaxtle, which is just north of Puerto Vallarta. We preferred the quiet, laid back atmosphere there than the hustle, bustle and expense of the popular tourist city.   Heading south past the notorious Punta Corrientas, we pulled into Chamela  and spent five days hanging out with other cruisers on their way south.  Isla Pasavera was an island in the big bay and it was nice getting out and hiking for a change.  This is a bird sanctuary and so we hiked around looking for the elusive blue-footed boobie.

We spent a couple of days hiking the island, but also spent quite a bit of time on other boats, getting to know people.  We had left everyone we had gotten to know in Cabo San Lucas, so we needed to find new friends.  Saw our first movie onboard a boat--Solar Wind with Chuck and Len.  Star Trek III In Search of Spock.  Popcorn, movie and new friends.  We were really enjoying this.  There was no town where we anchored so the few boats that were here provided all the entertainment.

PictureRegular boobies are common and the ground was covered with both adults and baby birds.
While hiking the island we kept our eyes open for the  blue-footed boobie.  They are rare, but can be seen here.  We saw many regular boobies, frigates and baja buzzards and one blue-footed boobie!!!

Yes!!! The blue-footed boobie with an egg. Their feet are really a pretty shade of blue.
